LAW ENFORCEMENT CAREER OPPORTUNITY

The Charles Town Police Department is accepting applications for the Police Officer positions. Applicants must meet all eligibility requirements, have a high school diploma or GED equivalent, be at least 18 years old but not older than 35 at the time of application, have a valid drivers license. Pass the following tests; a written civil service exam, physical exam, physical fitness test, psychological exam, drug screening. Applicants will go through a comprehensive background investigation and several interviews before hiring. 

The most common reasons for rejections of applicants are; failing requirements or tests, illegal drug use, prior arrests or bad driving history. Any applicant who is untruthful during the hiring process will automatically be eliminated from consideration for employment. A take home cruiser is provided.

In addition to patrol, the department has opportunities in specialized assignments for officers to diversify their skills and broaden their Police experience. The department has a Criminal Investigations Division and  K-9 Unit.
